Superman Returns in 3D

It's now been announced that 20 minutes of Superman Returns has been remastered in 3-D for it's IMAX release. This is the same technology they were going to use for the IMAX release of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith, before the plan was dropped.
As it turns out, it won't just be one sequence in 3-D, but four sequences spread throughout the whole film. Audience members will see a visual cue (Green flashing glasses symbol and a Red flashing glasses symbol) to alert them when a 3-D sequence will being and end, requiring the special glasses. These scenes were created from digitally enhanced 2D film images using patented IMAX technology. This process enables the conversion of almost any 2D film into IMAX 3D. Director Bryan Singer picked the scenes himself, according to the IMAX notes. Why isn't the whole film in 3D? Time and effort. Right now the process takes longer than the production schedule would allow. IMAX is working to improve the timing so it will be possible to fully convert entire films in the future.
This is a mandatory bretheren IMAX outing. Muvico @ Orlando opening night, Wednesday, June 28th.
