"Ninja Turtles" CG movie to be released 2007
Variety reports that the newly formed Weinstein Co., run by former Miramax execs Harvey & Bob Weinstein, will handle distribution rights for the new "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" CG animated feature, to be released 2007.
While aimed at a PG rating, the movie is said to be grittier than its original three theatrical predecessors. The last Ninja Turtles movie was released in 1993 and was live-action. The animated feature will continue the storyline started by the revival of the TV series three years ago.
Kevin Munroe will write and direct the film. Munroe is currently working on the screenplay with the Turtles co-creator Peter Laird.
